Two For One...About The IABC/Pittsburgh Golden Triangle Awards Dual Partnership

The annual IABC Heritage Region Silver Quill Awards recognize excellence in business communication skills, management and creative across a wide range of disciplines. The IABC/Pittsburgh Golden Triangle Awards offers the opportunity to enter both the Heritage Region and local Pittsburgh Chapter.

Entries consist of a work plan explaining the rationale, intended audience, goals and objectives, and planning steps for the campaign or project; and a work sample showcasing creative aspects and execution. The entry period opens in March, judging occurs over the summer, and winners are announced at an awards dinner.

Pennsylvania entrants from Pittsburgh are automatically entered into both the IABC Pittsburgh Golden Triangle Awards and the IABC Heritage Region Silver Quills. Members-at-large and non-members from Pennsylvania can elect to enter both the IABC Pittsburgh Golden Triangle Awards and the IABC Heritage Region Silver Quills.

The Silver Quill Awards will be announced at the Heritage Region Conference, Nov. 8-10 at the Courtyard Boston Downtown. You can find more details for this event here.

We Decided To Do Things A Little Different...

We are fortunate to have secured what will be one of the  most sought-after new event spaces Pittsburgh has to offer come this fall. The National Aviary traditionally is a popular venue in and of itself...but to be one of the FIRST tenants to occupy its new "Garden Room"event space is an opportunity we won't find every year.

On track to open in September, the 9,000 square-foot area gives access to habitats, a new lobby and gift shop. Due to the nature of the event, plan for an extended cocktail hour to spend more time networking with colleagues, friends and birds alike. Additionally, expect a special guest appearance from the most popular bird species in town!

You can read more about the Aviary's Garden Room in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our Emcee Is Not Your Typical Communicator

What inspired you to to become a communicator? What we practice in this field -- and how -- is a product of our own personal experiences. However, former news reporter Courtney Brennan's journey is particularly unique. After winning four Emmys for her  outstanding work as a journalist on television, she traded microphones for cell phone cameras, a personal website/blog, and a large audience base to jumpstart her career as a social media teacher, influencer and digital content creator.
